India Census 2011 has been completed recently, in Feb 2011. Among the significant highlights are the the following facts.
  • India's current population is a staggering 1.2 Billion - almost 17% of the world's population.
  • The population has grown by 181 Million in the last decade - but at a rate slower as compared to the previous decade.
  • The sex ratio has been tagged at 940. It means that for every 1000 men, there are 940 women.
These statistics highlight the immenseness of our population. As for the sex ratio, it has been a positive move from 2001 - when the sex ratio was 933

We all are proud citizens of India. The need of hour is to realize our responsibilities and give a halt to this evil crime. What can we do to curb the brutal and undesirable practice of mass killing girls? A determined drive can initiate a spark to light the lamp and show the world that we all are part of the great Mother India..

'Perseverance and inspiration often leads to privilege but without hard work and dedication they'll be no success. The hardest profession to take in life is being a girl child. Discrimination and discrepancy are two most important factors that hamper the journey of every female from the earliest stage of life. Starting from her presence into her mother’s womb to infancy, childhood and finally to adulthood, she is outnumbered by the male dominating society of the country.

India is a country where social disadvantage outweighs natural biological advantage of being a girl. A whole range of discriminatory practices including female foeticide, female infanticide, female genital mutilation, son idolization, early marriage and dowry have buried the future of the nation. In India, discriminatory practices have greatly influenced the health and well-being of a girl child, resulting in a higher mortality rate.
It is believed that every year 12 million girls are born in the country but unfortunately only 1/3 of those survive. Some are killed in the womb, some at the time of birth, some die due to ill health and some due to poor nutritional status. Only a few numbers of girls are able to survive till their 15th birthday.

She will definitely be sucessfull enough to take care of her family. Her independence - social and economic - would make her strong and brave to face our difficult world. And such a girl would certainly be able to take care of her aging parents.

If someone is so detrimental to have a girl, and would like to have a boy child, they should think that some two decades down the line - they would be searching for a suitable girl to get their son married. And if all parents would just like to have boys - like they do - where would you get a girl from? Haven't we heard of the quote -
Educate a man, you educate one person, educate a woman, you educate a complete family. It is here you can understand the importance of a lady.

People generally ask this question that girl child is a curse & blessing .But I think it as a stupid question. How can a girl be a curse. A girl is always blessing. Girl is a devi.Woman are the pillars of society. How can they be a curse. Girl is a mother who take can her children in every part of life. How can she be a curse? My question to the people of this whole world. Are girls really equal to the boys? I think so, girls r not equal to the boys. This all is just written in the books. It is man dominating society where men are always considered for superior than the girls. Parents do not spend money on their daughters. They always neglect their daughter’s study having thought their daughter will leave them one day. Boys are always considered superior but girls can competition with boys in every field and even they can prove better than boys.
I think we must raise voice against those doctors who r killing innocent girls before their birth and we must raise voice against those parents who go for abortion and considered girl child as a curse. Only then we can expect a good future. People think that girls are inferior but history is the witness that ‘Indira gndhi’ was a great leader. She gave a new dimension to India. ‘Kalpana chawla’ is a great legend & ‘Sunita Williams did a great job for India.
Without a girl, a man is incomplete, a house is incomplete, &without a girl this whole world is incomplete .So I request u to please save the girl child & please never curse them.

Women are the receiving end in Indian society. They are will treated or tortured at every stage. A girl child is in bondage from her very childhood. She is under constant, vigil First by the parents, then her husband and finally her own children. Not only that, she is often condemned to death even before she is born. This is called female killing in the womb itself.
